When Ken first became Coroner in 1992 he took the office from an off-site location and established the first Coroner's Office on the site of the Government Complex at the time.
Ken worked closely with Copley Hospital when they closed their doors at their previous location on Lincoln Avenue in downtown Aurora and was able to acquire their morgue equipment as a donation to the county. Unfortunately, the equipment was donated in 1995, but didn't have a home. Ken stored the equipment and worked diligently with the County Board and finally in 2001 the first ever Kendall County Morgue was built on the government campus.
This is just one example of Ken's dedication to the Office of Coroner. Ken also lists the following experiences as achievements he is proud of:
-
Ken is highly respected among the coroners throughout the State of Illinois.
-
Ken served in 2001 as the President of the Illinois Coroner's & Medical Examiner's Association.
-
Ken is retired from the Oswego Fire Department after 20 plus years in fire service throughout Kendall County.
-
Ken receives continuing education every year. By State Statute he needs only 24 hours every year, but Ken realizes the importance of continued training and generally receives closer to 40-50 hours of continued education each year.
